About this print
Akron map poster
Akron is a city that built things. For much of the twentieth century it was known as the Rubber Capital of the World, home to tire makers whose names still mean something far beyond northeast Ohio, and Goodyear keeps its headquarters there today. This print of Akron, Ohio, in the Painted Survey style, is a way to keep that place close, whether it is the city where someone grew up, studied, raised a family, or simply spent years learning which roads were fastest at rush hour.
The city has a shape of its own. The Ohio & Erie Canal runs through it, the Cuyahoga River bends along its northern edge, and the Cuyahoga Valley National Park stretches north toward Cleveland. The University of Akron gives the city a steady stream of newcomers, many of whom end up staying or carrying the place with them when they leave. For basketball fans, it is also known around the world as LeBron James's hometown. A street map captures the city as one connected whole: the grid, the curves, and the spaces between them.
The Painted Survey edition is a design style with a softer, more personal feel than a standard road map, and it suits a living room, a hallway, or an office wall. Every RadMaps print is decorative art made to be looked at and remembered by, not used for directions. It makes a thoughtful gift for an Akron native living somewhere else, a recent graduate, or anyone who calls the Rubber City home.
