About this print
Vancouver map poster
Vancouver, Washington sits on the north bank of the Columbia River, directly across the water from Portland, Oregon. It has long had a character of its own, distinct from its larger neighbor to the south and from its namesake in British Columbia. The city grew up around Fort Vancouver, once an important fur-trading post in the Pacific Northwest and now a national historic site. Since then, a downtown, a riverfront, older neighborhoods, and a steady spread of homes and streets have filled in the land reaching east and north from the river.
This poster presents the city's street map in the Blackline style, a restrained design edition that lets the shape of the place carry the piece. It suits a wall where something quiet and graphic works better than a busy photograph, and it sits as comfortably in a kitchen or hallway as it does in an office or study.
A map of the city can hold a lot of small memories for anyone who grew up in Vancouver, moved there for work, or crossed the river to Portland every weekday for years. It also makes a thoughtful gift for someone who has recently left the area or has just settled in and is starting to learn its streets. Like every RadMaps print, it is meant as decorative art for the home rather than a navigation tool, so it belongs on the wall, not in the glovebox.
