About this print

Montgomery map poster

Montgomery sits on a bend of the Alabama River, a capital city whose streets carry a great deal of American history. It served as the first capital of the Confederacy, and less than a century later it became a center of the civil rights movement, where the bus boycott sparked by Rosa Parks drew national attention and where the Selma to Montgomery marches ended at the steps of the state capitol. Today the city holds that layered past alongside everyday life: government offices, riverfront evenings, minor league baseball, college campuses, and neighborhoods that have grown outward from the old downtown grid.

This print renders Montgomery, Alabama as a street map in the Cartouche style, a design edition that treats the city plan as something worth framing. It suits someone who grew up here, moved away and still thinks of these streets as home, or someone who came to Montgomery for school, work, or a posting at the air base and wants a reminder of the place. It also makes a thoughtful gift for a person who has visited the city's museums and memorials and wants to keep that experience close.

As a piece of wall art, a city map offers something a photograph cannot: the whole shape of a place at once, the way its roads meet the river and spread across the land. It is meant for display rather than navigation, a decorative portrait of Montgomery that rewards a second look and tends to start conversations about where someone lived, worked, or walked. The available sizes and finishes are listed on this page.
