About this print
Tacoma map poster
Tacoma sits on the southern reaches of Puget Sound, a port city with deep working roots and a skyline that has long lived in the shadow of Mount Rainier. This print renders the city's street grid in the Neon Night style, a dark, glowing design that gives a familiar map the feel of a city seen after sundown. It suits someone who grew up here, moved away, or simply has a soft spot for a place that has never tried too hard to be anything other than itself.
The city has a lot to hold onto. Point Defiance Park reaches out into the water at its northern edge, with old-growth forest, beaches, and the Narrows close by. Commencement Bay frames the waterfront, the Museum of Glass and the Chihuly Bridge of Glass mark the downtown core, and the old Union Station building still anchors the neighborhood around it. Ruston Way, the Stadium District, Hilltop, the Proctor District, and the Tideflats each carry their own character, and anyone who knows Tacoma tends to have a favorite corner.
As wall art, a Neon Night city map works well in a living room, an office, or a hallway that needs something with a bit of personality. The dark background and bright linework stand out without asking for much else on the wall. It makes a thoughtful gift for a new homeowner, a graduate of the University of Puget Sound or UW Tacoma, or a friend who still talks about the Sound. It is a decorative piece meant to celebrate the city, not a map for finding the way across it.
