Des Moines City Map Poster

About this print

Des Moines map poster

Des Moines is the capital of Iowa and its largest city, built where the Des Moines and Raccoon rivers meet. It is a place people come to know through daily routines: the commute downtown, a Saturday morning at the farmers market, walks along the riverfront trails, the sight of the gold-domed State Capitol rising on the east side. This street map poster brings that familiar grid and its river bends together into a single piece meant for a wall rather than a glove box.

The Overprint edition is a visual design style, with bold overlapping color and graphic layering that turns an ordinary street plan into something closer to a modern art print. It suits a city that pairs Midwestern practicality with a growing creative streak, from its sculpture park to its neighborhood murals and independent shops. The result reads as decorative art first, a way to keep a sense of place close at hand. It is not intended for navigation.

This print fits many kinds of Des Moines connections. It can mark a first home or a long family history in Polk County, honor years spent studying or working in the city, or serve as a reminder for someone who has moved away and still thinks of the Iowa capital as home. It also makes a considered gift for a newcomer settling in, a graduate heading off, or anyone whose story runs through these streets. Hung in an entryway, office, or living room, it offers a quiet conversation starter about where someone comes from and what that place means to them.
