About this print
Mobile map poster
Mobile is one of the oldest cities on the Gulf Coast, a port town shaped by water on nearly every side. It grew up where the Mobile River meets the head of Mobile Bay, and that meeting of river, bay and delta still defines how the city sits on the land. Downtown carries centuries of layered history in its squares, wrought-iron balconies and live oak canopies, while neighborhoods spread west from the waterfront toward the suburbs and the bay's western shore. This print, from the Blackline edition, turns that street grid into a piece of wall art for anyone who knows the city well or wants to remember it.
For many people, Mobile means Mardi Gras. The city's Carnival tradition runs deep, with parades, mystic societies and moon pies thrown from floats each season. It also means the working harbor, the battleship moored near the causeway, long humid evenings, and seafood pulled from the bay and the Gulf. A street map can't hold all of that, but it can hold the shape of the place where those memories happened: the routes driven every day, the blocks walked on parade nights, the streets of a first apartment or a childhood home.
The Blackline style keeps the focus on the city's form, giving the streets of Mobile a clean, graphic presence that sits comfortably in a living room, office or hallway. It makes a thoughtful gift for someone who grew up along the bay, recently moved away, or is just settling in. As with every RadMaps poster, it is meant to be enjoyed as decorative art rather than used for navigation.
