About this print

San Jose map poster

San Jose sits at the southern end of San Francisco Bay, a big city spread across the broad, flat floor of the Santa Clara Valley with hills rising on either side. It is the largest city in the Bay Area and the heart of Silicon Valley, though its roots run much deeper than the tech era. Founded as a Spanish pueblo in the late eighteenth century, it later served as California's first state capital, and for generations the surrounding valley was known for its orchards before office parks and neighborhoods filled in the land between them.

This print captures the city as a street map, the kind of view that shows how San Jose actually fits together: the downtown grid, the long arterial roads stretching toward the foothills, the freeways that knit the valley's towns into one region. For anyone who grew up here, moved here for work, studied at one of its schools, or simply spent years driving its wide boulevards, a map like this can hold a lot of memory in a quiet way.

The Cartouche edition is one of the design styles RadMaps offers, giving the city a distinct visual character suited to a home office, a living room wall, or an entryway. It also makes a thoughtful gift for someone leaving San Jose or putting down roots there. Like every RadMaps poster, it is meant as decorative art rather than a navigation aid, a way to keep a familiar place in view long after the drive home.
