About this print
Fremont map poster
Fremont sits at the southern end of the East Bay in Alameda County, stretched between the marshy southeastern shore of San Francisco Bay and the steep green hills that rise toward Mission Peak. It is a city made from several older towns that joined together, and the names still carry weight locally: Niles, Centerville, Irvington, Mission San Jose and Warm Springs each kept something of their own character. That patchwork shows in the street grid, where older town centers meet postwar neighborhoods and the long arterials that tie the whole place together.
There is a lot of history packed into those streets. Mission San Jose, founded during the Spanish mission era, gave one district its name. Niles had an early chapter in film when silent movies, including Charlie Chaplin comedies, were shot there. Today Fremont is known as one of the most diverse cities in the Bay Area, with Lake Elizabeth and Central Park near its middle and open space at Coyote Hills and along the ridgeline to the east. For anyone who grew up here, commuted through, or put down roots, the city's layout is likely familiar in a way that is hard to explain to outsiders.
This print presents Fremont in the Blackline edition, a design style that leans on clean lines and strong contrast to let the shape of the city carry the piece. It suits a home office, a hallway, or a first apartment, and it makes a thoughtful gift for someone moving away or settling in. Like every RadMaps poster, it is decorative art meant for the wall rather than a guide for getting around.
